175/50/13 on an 8" rim?

Featured Replies

Is this possible? Or is it stretching the tyre too far?

Cheers

yes it is poss, and give's a nice little stretch !

nice little stretch !

little? are you insane?

tbh its not a massive stretch

Ill take a pic when my tyres are fitted, thats the size I'm putting on my 8s

I was going to put 175 on a 7J rim and i thaught hmm it might effect the handling ...

Iff you drive like a sunday driver i supose they wont fly off ..

That streach is dangerous beyond belief ...

Good luck

175 on a 7J is nothing. I never manged to pop off a 165 on a 7J and I gave it some proper abuse. My mates wheels whos they are, he drives even harder then me on them and he hasnt' destroyed them either.

Fair does man .. from speaking to people i thaught that would of been a crazy streach ...

I do like to throw the car round some real tight bends ...

Looking at a streach so big would scare the hell outa me especialy not having a spare tyre to get me home ...

I supose iff it is tried and tested by yourself and your mate then its fair play .. maywell have to think about a 165 on a 7J rim .. Damn that sounds so wrong ...

I like to chuck my car about a lot and its more powerful than yours so if I can't tear them off I doubt a 1.0L mk3 will, lol.

Kid on Club Lupo put 165/50/15s on some 15x8 Modern Lines. Looks like there isn't even a tyre mounted onto the rim

simple fact stretched tyres arent dangerous

no matter what any numbskull kwickfit guy tells you.

look at alot of japanese drift cars, they're going sideways on stretched tyres with much lower profiles too.

once you stretch once you'll never go back!!!

go for it looks sweeeeeeet

HaHa Damn thats going a bit too far but yeah this is good info to hear .. I was thinking Bigg streach .. SUnday Driver or keep the standard tyre look which i soaint really feeling and have fun in the car .. I can do both now ... Knowing my luck the buggers will pop off though ! Going tyre shopping day after payday .. Woop 4 new tyres ... to wear out in 2 mnths .. agh !

get a picture of that lupo

theres a good reason they use them. they have less give in them and thefore break traction with greater ease than a normal tyre, which would flex and try and stick to the tarmac. If you want good handling on typical british roads i wouldnt say they are the best option.

i never said they handle well,

i just said they werent dangerous lol

the handling part wasnt aimed at you, in fact none of it was!i was merely trying to explain the reason drift cars use them and the other bit was just a general point

thatl be fine jonesy

So I guess all the accidents with stretched tyres that led to TUV and tyre manufacturing imposing stricter guidelines never happend then
