buying a 15" sub and amp.

currently have some pioneer accelerate components in the front and pioneer accelerate 6x9s in the parcel shelf, running off a kenwood amp. the volume is fantastic but i want some BRUTAL bass, hence 15" sub and amp.

basically i am going to change the parcel shelf for an 18mm mdf shelf which il make & cut a piece of 18mm mdf to cover the floor to give a solid base for the sub box to sit on.

should i sit the the 6x9s in the shelf and box them in under? or shall i sit them in hanging like on the shelf i have atm?

also any suggestions would be ace. thanks.

sit the 6x9s on the shelf but enclose the bottom of them in a box, so they have their own airspace.

instead of the mdf base, u could dynamat (sound proofing) the boot.

how much would it cost to soundproof the bottom of the boot myself?

& would it be better than mdf-ing the bottom?

if i did the mdf base root, id cut the board to fit, then glue the original carpet to the top so it looks stock.

the mdf is gonna add extra weight, get some dynamat stuff from ebay, its only like 3mm thick and u just stick it on.

a sub needs to be boxed also 6x9's with a sub will cause distortion due to the pressure the sub will produce

also they don't sound very good anyway :p
