Does anybody know if the rear lights on the mk2 hatchback fit a coupe?

Why does the hatchback lights have a black plastic strip on the bottom? and the coupe ones dont?

they both fit each other but there not the same as the rear quarter profile is slightly different due to the arch coming all the way back on a square thats why they have the little plastic piece on the bottom.if you use coupe lights on a square they stick out very slightly and if you use square back lights on a coupe they sit in slightly

I've always thought it odd that the VW didnt just use the same rear lights,but the coupe was late coming,and though the squares rear corner panel appears the same,its arch crease does reach the lamp.
