Hi Everyone,

I have a 1998 VW Polo, any help would be very appreciated.

Problem: The Lights On' warning buzzer has a bad connection somewhere in the circuit. When I first got the car (1 month ago) it buzzed on and off, but now I only hear it once a week. I keep leaving the lights on by accident, including when the parking light comes on and I am afraid the battery will go soon. I have a Haynes for the car but I can not seem to find it in the content or circuit diagrams.

Does anyone know where the buzzer is and what it looks like? I think its behind the drivers dash?!?!

Has anyone else had this problem?

same problem here mate..never worked since i got the car.. if anyone can help..

1998 onwards it is built into the clocks so you can probably check there but changing it will mean new clocks...

before 1998 there is a block under the steering column amongst the relays (looks like a relay actually)

if it annoys you so much then you could always have another aftermarket one fitted, pretty simple for someone who knows a bit of electrics

I have a 1997 16v and i can not find the buzzer it not one of the 5 pelays have the part which vw sent me but for some reason they r a a loss where it goes the pins on the buzzer r different from the relays and plus puting my ear to another pole the buzzer sounds as if it is behind the light switch but have looked but can't see a thing be grateful if somone be able to help me locate it hoping not to have to take the dash out.

^^if you have the newer style dash (with the temp and fuel gauges top centre) then your buzzer is within the clocks... so either some new clocks are needed if there isnt a wiring fault outside...or you could try taking it all apart and fixing the buzzer
