more importantly is that it has pistons with a supercharged petrol suitable CR.

and it will be 1473 so a fair bit off 1500:-p

diesel pistons with supercharged petrol CR?

surely the 1W compression must be around 20:1?

doubt it cos the pistons are new custom ones.

proper mint pimpin shit going on in this thread keep it up guys.

dan

oh i see

must have read the post wrong

i was confused

yeah, custom forged pistons. bloody gorgeous. shame mine arent round.

:lol:

So what crank and rods are used then?

iirc after talking to one of my mates off here who's doing a similar thing who i wont name in case hes keeping it under wraps, what i remember its the diesel block, g40 crank, new lower compression pistons and either diesel conrods or g40 ones the g40/normal polo ones being easier to find and replace if necessary. the diesel also has oil injectors up at the pistons so no more piston meltage.

iirc you can either use the diesel or the g40 con rods but obviously if something goes wrong the chances of finding a 1w diesel engine out of a polo or seat van are gonna slim so the best bet imo and from what I've been told is to go for the polo con rods as they're all the same 1.0-g40. everything I'm saying here is what I've picked up off others, iam in no place to critise or give advice, just speaking what I've heard from someone who's in the process of doing a similar setup.

to clear it up..

diesel block - preferably

diesel crank

petrol con rods

custom pistons

petrol 1.3 head

hi after building this engine for sally there has been a few people who are unsue on the parts that have been used .so here goes

block = 1W

crank = 1W

head = G40

rods = G40

pistons = custom 77mm

the deisel rods use bigger gudgin pins which do not fit the custom pistons

Thanks Bort PP

reet well there you go. diesel crank NOT g40 one. nice one mate. i knew it twas a good mix of parts.

what power should this produce then? over 200 bhp surely?? ill come to the rolling road just to see this like

Easy for people to estimate BHP on tech specs, but the RR will speak for it'self in due course!!!

Will post when we have a evidence of initial RR runs.

We would rather not comment until this has been done :thumbsup:

fair play, i can understand that. i'd put money on over 200 myself. if you think andy strange with a standard fucked g40 was reaching 167 or there abouts on a 1341 bottom end, and this thing is bigger still with the bigger lader i'd be dissapointed with anything less. either way its gonna be a monster when its set up properly and what interests me most is the fact it should, and i use the word should without evidence, be reliable with the power too. especially with oil injectors in the block???? is that right dave?

Yes, one of the main reasons for choosong the 1W block is for the oil squirters, which are found as standard in the G60 1.8 lump

This will help with meltdown, however fueling & timing pay a big part in it too.

It won't guarentee melt down free driving.......my brother melted his G60 pistons on fueling issues alone!!

the oil squirters will help a lot to keep things a the right temperature.

it would be nice to think 220 is achievable with this setup but it will need a fair bit of mapping i guess.

what a lot of people seem to be overlooking is the torque, its going to be a slut tbh - in a good way

yeah? sounds awesome. the more i learn about this the more i like about it. nice work anyway keep us updated.

On the right pulley the G60-lader will get 1.5 BAR so it should be a bit of a monster. It was quite a suprise coming back from Polo Show and seeing this.

sorry for being silly, what engine isit? i thought g60's were a 1800??

it looks like a g40 engine with a g60 charger?

You are correct Original G60's are indeed 1.8 lumps

This engine is a diesel bottom end, with a G40 head, so it will look like a 1.3 G40 lump (slightly taller) this is coupled with a G60 charger.......& it's capacity is near as dam it a; 1500cc :unibrow:

The block is not taller, but as mentioned above it has oil squirters. If you put the 1W crank in a G40 bottom end you need to grind the block and rods to provide clearance for the longer stroke. 1W's also have bigger head bolts

Christ after sum1 replyed to the post i made. i was shocked at the answer. that is so cool. You guys must have alot of knowledge on cars :) Much respect

Mr Matthews

and it will be 1473 so a fair bit off 1500:-p

Only by as much as a G40 is off a 1300 and we all refer to them as 1300's :-p

Really not sure on the power of this engine. I'm not going to make any guesses as that is all they will be at this point, but I've discussed this engine with quite a few people who know what they're on about and the results should be pretty interesting :unibrow:.

I'll let you all know what it's like after I've run the engine in fully and I can give it some properly. And will keep you updated after it's first run on a rolling road and down the strip.

When the engine is fully running in Geoffrey there are still going to be a fair few refinements that I want to make to it so this thread will keep getting updated no doubt. :roll::lol:

like Tav says, i hadnt heard anything about this and came back from poloshow weekend and there was a good 3 page read haha.

Very impressive stuff allround.. look forward to seeing the power figures. Best of luck

If we had I'd have paid to go on the net in a service station and see what the scoop was. This better be at Polo Show 08!

ROFL, If we had had our way it would have been at Polo Show '07, but alas it wasn't meant to be. It will however hopefully be at the Renault 5 day all being well, so I'm sure you can all have a good look then. :-D

And hopefully by the Polo Show '08 it will have had a fair few additional mods ;)
