Do they make a strange buzzing noise when the brakes are applied due to the holes in the disks ??? Hope you know what I'm on about. I've been told that this is normal. It's not loud, but noticeable with the windows down.

If they are drilled discs then they will make a kind of buzzing noise when you apply the brakes yes.
