Some of you may know i totalled mt mk3 square into a post last week (see previous post) But on the up side its just been replaced by a gleaming white 3 dr mk4. its got 60000 on the clock an everything seems to be ok except one niggling problem which I'm hoping you guys can help me with before i ask the garage to sort it out.

My central locking does not lock from my door. i can unlock the whole car with key but have to climb in through passenger side to lock it. Also i am having to put the key in the boot lock to open isn't that on the central locking circuit?

Has anyone else had this problem? or is it just mine.

Common problem I've read on here before. The system uses a pump located in the boot area i think. Have you tried a search. These pumps get wet connections & stop working

It may be cheaper to buy a new central locking kit/alarm instead of replacing faulty vw parts. Just a thought...

the central lockin pump usually does die out and does get wet and blow the circuit, i found out... the pump is located below the rear rhs light in the first aid compartment just replace it should be £40 from the breakers yard or eBay and about £170 from VW :)

yea i agree they are air pump so they jam up time to time behind first aid kit area not much from a scrappy but common fault
