Hi All,

my sub stopped working and I'm looking for a new one, as you can see from the title whats a passive sub!?

A passive sub is not amplified or powered in any way. Just a speaker. This means you need a seperate amplifier to power it. An active sub has an amplifier built in, and therefore can take a passive line in.

Crap explanation but that's how i understand it!

No Thats, good, i already have a amp so i just need a new sub, got confused by seeing everyting saying passive!!

Just be sure to buy the right type of sub for your box, box capacity in comparison to sub size/design is also a factor.

Some are designed for sealed boxes some are for ported ones and also there are 'free-air'' one that dont need a box at all.

In short, sealed 8" 10" good for punchy quick bass if your a hard house / nu nrg freak like me or ported long throw 10s

and larger for R&B drum and bass ect. larger subs cant move as quickly as the smaller ones so using a 15" for hard house

is a no no tbh.

Maybe you already knew that but i thought it maybe worth mentioning.

Thanks, I'm not into anysort of particular music but i had a 12" ported 1 before!
