Saw these on ukpolos was debating whether to get a set. They seem to be a really good price £130+p&p which is only a 10er more than PhilJ's spring and shock kit. Would a set of PhilJ's coilovers be better than these ones? The pics of them look pretty good and they look like a set that philJ sells. But i know nothing about coilies so if some1 could let me know if these are worth buying or not.

For £130 I can't imagine they will be the best quality of coilovers but there must be safety laws they have to pass so I'm guessing they would be safe.

Tbh, for £130 I'd just go for it. Even if they are crap its ot as if they are particularly expensive.

Raceland are a fairly well known company so I can't see there products being overly shit. I would have bought some for my missus if I had bought her a 6N.

The problem is they only offer a drop of 35mm - 55mm.

Yeh but aparently some1 reckoned they would only be TUV approved to 55mm and may go further. Remember you could always add lowering top caps for a few extra mm. Correct me if I'm wrong somebody...

If I can get a bigger drop and a better ride from the shocks and springs for the same price I'd rather have the shocks and springs to be honest. The only downside I've heard about the shocks and springs so far is that the front height will be fixed and not adjustable like coilovers which to be honest I can live with until I can afford the FK Highsports coilies.

they are a philj kit, chripsy bought a set identical 4 215 inc p+p if i remember correctly

they look like the evo type coilies a few people on here have,,,dont think they lower massively but arent bad for the money..

Well i dont need my car to go amazingly low as i use it on a daily basis and carry mates about. If i did want to go lower can you just buy lowering caps how much are they and how much can they drop it by?

for the front you can buy the top caps but for the rear no...

If you were planning say a 60/40 shocks and springs kit you could get it almost as low as it with those coilies. But they may go lower so you could end up going lower. That way you'd not be to disappointed if they only went down 55mm max.

I asked my german supplier about them, and got this reposnse..

"I dont know what they do, but in former times we sold Raceland Coilovers (2005) and every 2nd Coilover came back with a problem or the shock was broken…"

Ever since Vmaxx/evo made the original budget coilovers, a fair few different sets have been brought out under different brand names, the cheaper ta, formel k, etcs arent the same as the vmaxx. Raceland are a big company, and must be producing these themselves, just hope they are better than the previous lot! I might have to get a set in for testing. I've ran the ta technix coilies on a few of my cars, and I haven't had any come back for faulty dampers yet...

Id go with a philj kit cant go wrong with the value for money, i got 80mm shocks and springs from him....poss going coliovers early next year

The Raceland Coilovers come with a 2 year warranty. They are of a T.U.V. approved standard but as they are a newly developed line no-one will know what the ride quality is like (I set up the special deal to find this out). It may be worth waiting for the first few buyers to review them before deciding either way..

the lowering top caps wont work with coilovers, they arer meant for regular springs coilover springs are too small diameter.

I know Phil should be slightly biased but he seems to be a pretty down to earth guy so i trust he will give me an honest answer. If they have a 2 year garuntee i think they are ok for that money. I'm going to wait for some feedback from some other people about them before i buy a set i think.

Errr, what evidence do you have to proove that? I know for a fact there are at least a few different types going about under all sorts of brand names.

Kam racing - Surely you should test them yourself if you unsure on whether you should be selling them or not!? I've bought 90% of the products I sell to see how I like and get on with them before deciding to offer them to my customers or not! TUV approval is all good and well, but it doesnt test the companies quality control, and as I'm experiencing with the raceland manifolds at the moment, they are prooving not to be the greatest quality. God bless the chinese.

I've bought a set from Kam-Racing and they are being fitted in the next couple of weeks so I'll let you know as soon as I try them out.

I wanted them for a handling improvement as going round corners swiftly the car had a lot of body roll. I'm only going down 35-40mm so not a huge slam for day to day practicality.
