Subwoofer box volumes

Featured Replies

I'm sure this must have been asked before but cant see a thread on it.

I'm looking at getting a new sub and am looking at the kenwood pack http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/kenwood-pack-p-5760.html

but on the kenwood website they state the sealed box volume of: 35.4liter what does this mean is that min size or max and will a lower volume box mean hard punchyer bass and a higher volume box mean softer deeper bass?

thanks Greg

35.4 litres = 1.25 cubic feet

that will be optimal box size, at which it'll probably sound best.. a box like 14" wide x14" high x 16" deep and 18mm MDF (if you want to build your own) will do you good

i got a program on my pc which works out the optimum size for a box when you enter the thiele small parameters of the speaker you wish to make an enclosure for.

i think it was free from the interwebnet. I'm at work at the minute but when i get home ill have a butchers and find a link for the download,

its a really good program, iirc you can adjust the dimentions of the box to fit your boot and it maps the frequency level and tells you the size of ports you will need etc. it provides you with a graph which you can use to fine tune the box so it kicks out certain frequencies better.

heres the link mate - to use the program you gotta learn a bit about how speakers work etc. the key thing to remember is that acoustics play a large part in how it will sound. have fun

oh yeah one thing i wanted to ask, does your ranger have a rev counter? and is it 4 or 5 speed?

Thats a great program! I've needed something like that for ages, Nice one..

Cant the Mods Pin this?
