yet another speed device related question

Featured Replies

u know those speed guns, where copper are standing on the side of the road or bridges above the road in question, well, if they zap u with one of those is it just a case of a fine or do u get points as well? was drving through sydenham doing about 30/35 in a 97 206 when i drove past these motorcylecoppers on the side of the road....quite a few of them but one in particular gave me a hand signal which i couldnt figure out....i couldnt stop as it was a dual carridge way and i would have been blocking traffic...i coudlnt see them holding anything, but then again it was my gf that spotted them 1st and i was too busy looking at the road ahead..so just incase they did zap the car i wanna know what ill be expecting....

unless I've misread this, why would you get zapped for doing 30/35 on a dual carridgeway? what...because you were going so slow? aha

lol not dual carridge way, (was rembering the whole journey as i was typing that) normal road with 30 limit..there was a speed camera about 200 yrd further up the road that doesnt go off when the da rin question is doing 35 on its speedo

haha ahh right i see.

i wouldnt have thought you would get anything, because as it says in the highway code you are allowed to do upto 10% over the limit. this might only be 33, but i went through a 30 camera at 37 and didnt get anything!

but if you are unfortunate to get anything, id say only the fine, defo not points mate!

phhewww coz its a bit of a sticky one lolol, the only reason I'm driving is coz my gf twisted her knee and cant drive at all! cant leave the car where it is coz it would get clamped in the morning and whats the point in giving ken livingston more money for transport? so was worried about claiming points if i needed to while driving her car...but aint there a rule where if the owner of the car is full comp and is sitting next to the driver then the car is covered 3rd party? or am i just making up shit again?

haha fair play mate!

erm, I'm not sure, never heard of it myself. i know thats the case if you go test drive a car thats insured fully comp, the cars 3rd part with you driving it, so in theory this is the same.

could say that you were test driving it, therfore no problem =]

lmao where the hell does it say in the highway code that your allowed to go ova the speed limit by 10% OE's manufacture your speedo to a tolerance of + - 10% but the police if feel the need can nick you doing 31 miles an hour should they feel it is warranted.

As for the hand signal if they wanted you to pull ova and you didn't obey, surely they'd come after you with the blues n two's

it was weird...it like the dude just came half way out into the middle of the road and did this weird signal, like if a pilot was trying to say Okay to another one.... lol, and I'm a serial fibber g40 john, I Lie about everything all the time. Nothing i say can be taken seriously unless i say simon says before it, also...if for example if was telling the truth for once in my life, wouldnt they need some form of photographic evidence/cctv footage to see me driving a car uninsured?

lol and its trie about the 31mph thing lol i was stopped and "let off" for doing 32 mph at 2am in morning on an empty relatively quiet main road...

They can be picky as hell if they feel or can go the other way and really let you off if they feel you've learnt your lesson lol

ever heard the story about the boy who cried wolf?! As for the photographic evidence thing I've no idea? If someone confesses to doing a robbery, but there is no visual evidence of them doing it would they get done?who knows

Ummm, not sure thats the case fella. There is a clause in a policy that allows the policy holder to drive another car 3rd party, but this is dependent on your policy and only if the car is insured by the owner and you have that owners permission!

The fastest I've ever driven with no insurance was 152mph in a modified Audi S2 Avant,in the tiny town of Stoney Stratford.

Ha ha,I'm lying - really..
