Creeking under Braking

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone

I've got a Polo Mk4, and it seems when I have a press the brakes when the car is moving there is a kind of creeking noise from i think the back of the car but I could be wrong.

Brakes (pads and discs) were done recently and have only covered about 3,000 miles, as have the tyres although doubt that has anythign to do with it.

Serviced in July with no problems.

My only thing I think it could be is the pedal box perhaps.

Cheers in advance for any help

Dan

Is there any vibration at all, or is it just a noise?

huh I'm sure i just replied to this thread???

anyway - its the shims and pins that need replacing. when you had the brakes changed they probably kept the old ones as they dont come with new pads. shims and pins cost not much,

Sorry mate, I put it in the wrong forum part before and I cant delete it.

No vibration, or any grinds that would indicate pad wear or disc wear. Stops straight and fine.

I had the brakes done about 8 months ago so they arent new but mileage wise they are new, and it passed its MOT about a month back too.

Il have to look into the pins and shims thing, is there a way of seeing if they are worn?

Could it be the pedal box or am i just barking up the wrong tree with that?

As is sods law it had to start making the noise just before I go back to uni rather all the other months I was off.

Cheers again for any help

rest your mind dan its nothing to be worried about. the pedal box wont be the problem dude.

i had this on a couple of cars - theres like a metal plate that goes on the back of the pads. this gets warped and rusty over time and you need to replace. I'm guessing you had them done at a garage, id take it back and see what they say. your fine to drive it in the meantime its just annoying when your in a busy area cos everyone can hear it lol.

I had them done at Kwik Steal, should take it back to them and ask them about it. The problem is at the mo its not very loud and happens 3/4 of time not all the time, guess il wait till it gets a tad louder so I dont have some bloke tell me the classic line of its not really there.

Cheers Ranger and everyone else for your help

Dan
