The car has been sat around for a while, the previous owner didn't use it much. My mates been using it for the last few days and she rang me to day saying it was making weird noises. Was coming from the drivers side rear wheel. Just sounded as if something was sized that shouldn't be seized and was causing it to rub and squeak. Whats it likely to be and whats the remedy?

Mine seized up and I just twatted them with a hammer and it was fine. May try that trusty old technique just as a temporary fix.

Probably won't have a chance to do it till this weekend or maybe even next weekend.

possibley the brake pads worn down to the metal?????

Could se a seized brake cylinder or handbrake cable

if the squeek happens whilst the wheel is turning but your not braking then it could be a build up of brake dust in the drum.. or as its been sitting around for a while a build up of rust on the back of the drum catching on the back plate

if the squeek only happens when you apply the brake or the handbrake then it'll be the shoes squeeking on the back plates.. easy fix, remove drum, eeek out shoes off of back plates with a screwdriver just enough to get some copper grease on the contact points where the shoes touch the back plates.

Yeah its only when the wheel is turning. When you brake or stop it no longer makes it.

Must just be shite in the drum, I'll give them a good clean out (and maybe even a paint!) at some point.
