The guid to putting in a 1.8t seat ibiza cupra r engine into a polo 6n

Featured Replies

oh btw guys the audi 1.8t engines are different, the blocks are technically the same, but you have different ecus, turbos, water pumps, injectors etc on all of them.

The cupra has the KO3 156 bhp standard, cupra r KO3s 180bhp standard, leon cupra r and s3 K04 with 240/25 bhp.

The ibiza cupra r or leon/ s3 one is the one you want.

The s3 one is built to take the power and comes with a decent setup as standard.

Dont start with the basic one, the ibiza cupra r one though isnt bad.

My mate is putting one in his mk2 golf atm.

So why do Astra VXRs have 18s/19s?

Or am I just being argumentative?

Again...big car weighing in are more than 1300kgs and having a substaintially larger foot print than a Mk4 Polo...and the 19's prob. ruin the ride on those as well. BMW M3 for example....many owners opt for the option 19" wheels because they look good. Only problem is the car is apprently much better to drive on the smaller wheels.

the bloke at the phirm said you have to remove the ns chassis leg and replace with aleg from a 1.8 20vt engined car and also the mount hope your weldings good!!

well that not been done on everyones 20v conversion, and if so i'l make up engine mounts, as long as the box fits and work i can fabricate from there on

well been saying good bye today and brushing off the cob webs, so the stripping and prepping can commence ;)

but there 18's so the car would never sit close enough to the ground for me if you had of got them in 16's......

Forget sitting close the ground. Think of the weight of the wheels...the unpsrung weight sitting on the suspension. The extra mass to accelerate/slow. It's going to make take longer to gain speed, longer to stop and ruin the ride. Fair enough if you are doing it just for looks...but fitting a 1.8T and big brakes suggests you are in it for the performance as well.

as long as the engine has ample power to turn the wheels then its all good, you put 18s on a 1 litre nova and its funny watching it trying to pull off, you put 18s on the same nova with a 2 litre red top in it and it no longer struggles to pull off. i'm no expert, but surely this holds some weight, no?

or does the red top add 2 tonnes to the unsprung weight?

P20HOT PRISM MOTORSPORT, good luck with it all mate

a nova weighs around 1.5 tonne no more with a red top

a nova weighs around 1.5 tonne no more with a red top

:retard: A nova weighs around 1.5 tonne????? emmm.....no they dont! Are you confusing it with a volvo or something?

New wheels look nice....now take off them horrible vinyls! :puke:

It's not to do with the weight of the wheels, a bigger wheel makes you accelerate more slowly due to the increased radius. Same car on a 15" and 18" wheel will have a different 0-60 times.

The unsprung weight again relates to the wheels...or anything connected to the suspension e.g. brakes. This effect the handling of the car.

who cares lol

how can a nova weight 1.5 tonnes?? its got to be one of the lightest cars cars on the road thers nothing to them, even with a red top it still not gonna way anywhere near that figure.

my mates nova with the 2.0l in weighed just over 800kg iirc!

^^^ exactly. theres nothing of them

Wow, good effort! hope it all goes to plan buddy, wish I had the guts to do this myself!

well gotta go look at a cupra tomorrow in the scrapers, might be buying the inner wings lol

i want that venom polo :(

Damn right!

Good luck with this mate, uv got alot of hardwork ahead of you and I'm looking forward to seeing the transplant finished and running. :-D

Let me see a pic of the lump!!!

Put me out of my misery :-)

lol i will mate no prob, it in hipo skip bag from b&q's in my mums garden, i also found that who ever said the cupra inner wings wer welded into the s3 polo was talking bull shit! the is no difference in the cupra ibiza or a normal one, only the mounts for the front lower chassie legs where the front bar thing that a engine mount on is is different, these four different mount are easy to cut off and offer up conected to this bar thing with a mount to the polos chassie legs and weld on

iv been trying to find a lupo gti cross member as i remember this is the same as the polo one in every way except that it has extra mounts because the gear box is 6 speed and is completely different to the 1.0 - 1.6 polo boxes

also looking at a golf gti turbo today the front near side engine mount and the gear box mount are also easy enough to cut off and weld on too

i dont think mounting the engine into place will be a problem but welding is needed

iv gone with the idea of a cable driven box to usw on the 1.8t engine as no linkage to mess with, I'm going to take the whole gear stick mech all the way to the box off and if needs be weld into place as the 16v polo one dont work in the same way

this is all guess work and not fact yet but i will be giving full details into this conversion with step by step photos so everyone has a good knowledge on what to do to mount the engine

well bought a tt engine mount and a gof 1.8t mount too and the golf gti gear box mount, need to find a lupo gti subframe or cross member its called, iv been told the polo gti came out also ina 6speed but will have to fint out if this was a 6n2 or above as the subframe mounts are different

you can buy an adapter to make this engine fit your car.

seen them for sale on german ebay - it was just a modified engine mount, go look dood!

Sick! you have the same bonnet scoop as me 8-)

theres a yellow golf turbo up in southend that copied my r19 scoop too
