Ok... so my plan to disable all the panel lights except the two in the dash may have miscarried.

I have just left the tell-tales in the rear screen and fog light switches connected.

I unplugged the heater control light.

I snipped the two little bulbs in the headlight switch and the other light (not the tell-tale) in the fog switch.

NOW.....

The fog lights only work when the lights are off or when the sidelights are on, they go off if you put the dipped lights on!!!

I've really studied the headlight switch but it looks like it's designed to do that, as a little slidey contact that connects the foggy circuit disconnects when the lightswitch is fully on - but i'm sure that's not how it was before!?!?!

Anybody with a mk3 tell me under what conditions your foggies will work? They don't work at all with the ignition off, and I think that's right, but surely they ought to work together with dipped beam, right?

Surely your foggies have a diffrent button to your normal headlights so these wont be effected by those ..

They will indeed. The headlight switch affects the fog lights to the extent that the fog lights should not come on when the headlights are off.... i think. Anyway, the foglights will switch on when the side lights are on but go off when you switch dipped or main beam on.... that ain't right and it only happened after i'd been meddling with the headlight switch.

i dont know how to fix your problem.

the the fogs should work with headlights on (either sidelights, dipped or full beam)

they should not work at all when headlights are off

Dont you just hate electrics ...

I still havnt sorted out my crazy windsrean wipper problem hich i have had for ages ..

(when it rains i pop the bonnet and plug em in .. they dnt stop going .. stupid things)
