Are you offering to help

I would of got some done on my days off but too dangerous to do that sort of work all on my own.

And then had unavoidable comitments on the weekends, hopefully this weekend will be 2 days of full on grinding and welding, bring it on!

How rude! No it has not been scrapped, i've just not been well recently, and it's so blooming cold too! Will knuckle back down and get some more done soon though

anything for us yet rach??

stick at it :)

I've given up on it for the time being as it's too bloody cold. Will be moving units in the months to come so i'll get back onto it once we have done that

Wow, if you can fix this you can fix anything!

It won't cost me that much doing the work myself, got most of what i need all together now, just going to take time, as in years of time

Yes i did consider re-shelling her but i couldn't do it, no one seems to understand how much i love this car, she's very special to me

I completely understand hun, my mk2 golf is the same to me - it's died on me more times than i can remember, some people have said "just buy a new one" - but it wouldn't be the same.

Glad you're having a go, looks like such a wicked car in the early pics, will be keeping an eye on the progress of this one!

Glad someone understands

Yeah should have some updates soon, watch this space

How is this going?

  • Author

Erm, she's still the same. Just under-going another unit move into a smaller unit on my own. She will be in by next weekend and then i will actually get some work done if i can borrow a welder, if not i'll save up for one. Been ill over the xmas holiday so didn't go down there once up until yesterday. I have my mk3 saloon that needs doing first though, there's not a massive amount that needs doing (famous last words), so should get onto Goldie spring/summer time, maybe sooner :-)

Sounds Good... I was worried that she just got forgotten about :)

I'd never forget about her, she's far too special to me. I have big plans for her, will be a few years off though :-(

Good luck with it Rach.

It will take some determination to finish that bodywork butif you can fix one bit, you can fix ten.

I restored the body on my '83 Polo some time ago but it was nowhere near as bad as that and I have a car that has been waiting 22 years on body repairs and, like you, I won't scrap it for sentimental reasons. Lets hope yours is done in 2 years rather than 22.

I'm keeping mine as its the only one of its type ever made the only Imp pick upbut if you want to keep yours and get it back to showroom you will have to work in the cold months as well as the warm ones.

I hate going to my unit in the cold but, as its cold for 6 months of the year in Scotland, you just need to get on with it.

Wow, that's a long project

I'm kinda hoping Goldie won't take that long, although at the rate it's going it could get close :-(

I know i should be working in the winter, it's just finding the time at the moment. There will come a time when i'll get some time on my hands, just not sure when, and then i'll get cracking. It's just i got to get my friends car done, then one of the mk3's done, then the Derby needs a bit of work and then Goldie will get done. I have too many cars

I've come to terms that she will never be perfect, due to the vast amount of work needed, but i want her to be presentable and my own work.
