what do spigot rings actually do ?

they reduce the bore size of the wheel to the bore of you hubs iirc???

arh right just that i was speeking to a chap last night about car vibrating when on motorways going (at moderate speeds) haha and he said maybe to try spigot rings

id probaly put that down to tracking or wheel balancing??? i dont think a sprigot ring could cause a vibration

na had my tracking looked at when i had it mot'd and he said it was sound .

could be almost anything really

if your wheels have a centre bore that is larger than the hub then they could be mounted slightly off centre, hence the possible need for spigot rings to centralise the wheel on the hub.

without them the wheel actually rests on the bolts wheras it wants to rest on the actual hub

Do you know you need them........ when you put you wheel on, does it slide on snug to the centre part of the hub or is there some slop/play before you tighten down the wheel bolts.

If its a snug / tight fit then spigots are not required and it will be another issue casuing the vibration such as tyres not balanced, buckled wheel (same as not balanced really), driveshafts, engine mounts (not very common), wheel bearings, exhaust, etc.

Most decent alloy wheel suppilers will have Spigots Rings as many aftermarket alloys, especially multifit alloys, require Spigot Rings as the alloys fit different cars with different sizes of centre bore.
