i recently purchased a set of 17x7.5 lenso stage 1's and now want to lower it, i would like a 60mm drop but dnt want any hassle with rubbing and the ARB & Driveshaft problem,

anyone know whats the lowest i can go without that?

As far as driveshaft problems on 17's its not AS big a deal but it will still hit at a 60mm drop id imagine.

The 3 solutions for the ARB issue are,

1. Get rid of the ARB altogother (a dremel with a couple of cutting discs will do the job nicely). Tav, Del, Stubert or RossGT will testify to the fact that on coilovers you will NOT notice any difference in handling. This was what I did on my 9n and I have FK Silverline coilovers.

2. Get a whiteline ARB which goes under the driveshafts and will erradicate all rubbing. You WILL need new drop links for this though. Whiteline do a set of adjustable ones but are ~£80 iirc and the ARB itself is ~£115.

3. Get shorter/make shorter drop links. The only problem with this option is the ARB will rotate back from its normal position and in doing so will reduce the ammount of work the ARB can actually do. Not such a good choice in my opinion. Also the drop links will not be as strong as they were, but if you get a good job done on the welding they should hold up, this i cant garuntee though!

One of those will help or only lower the car about 40-50mm (lowering to 50 then raising till it stops rubbing is the best method).

Oh and as far as rubbing goes you shouldnt have a problem depending on the offset of the wheels of course. I have 16x8 et25 wheels and have the coilovers all the way down and only rub when i have a passenger and when going a bit too fast through a corner/roundabout. The rubbing I get is on the corner of the tread at its thickest point though and it catches the inner arch lining so is not a problem for me AT ALL!

Oh I forgot to add tyre profiles will make a difference aswell. On mine I've got 205/40/16.

With a 17x7.5 you would easy get away with a 195/40 on it and you would be able to get pretty low before you started rubbing (if you would at all). The arches on a mk6 are single skin so no need for rolling and they are lovely and big in there so plenty room for girth :)
