JABBA SPORT USELESS

Featured Replies

totally agree with the carb idea, ran 6psi through my weber tldm fitted to the xr2. there is one chap who is running over 200bhp through one, and the renault 5 GT turbos, running through carbs, (1400 motors dont you know) can reach well over the 200bhp mark.....G40's beware!!

only problem is that some carbs dont like boost, and others leak like seives (spl??) but literally all you need is turbo, intercooler, vacuum retard module for dizzy, carb and you are away.

6psi is better than no psi

6psi is better than no psi

engine is better then no engine!!!!!

My friend charged his capri pinto 2l, we did it all on the cheap and scrounged parts and made it all and bolted it together ourselves.

It ended up a 2.1L SOHC pinto with an eaton m45, totally custom kit, he was the first to successfully run it on fuel injection and did a bloody good job of it.

it took about 9 months of proper labouring and robbing machine time at work but it was worth it in the end.

I dont know how much it worked out to have cost him but it wasnt a massive amount as he got loads of deals with the parts

Sold the engine for 1k when we were finished with it.

We went down the megasquirt route too, was really helpful learning about the mapping process, didnt get it quite right but was fun none the less.

We took it up santa pod with a lightly mapped standard ecu and it ran 16 seconds-nothing special at all!

standard it ran 18's.

To put it simply it wasnt worth it atall apart from the fun and experience sake.

If we could go back in time we wouldnt not do it, but never would we spend anywhere near that much money doing it though.

I have respect for you wanting to do it and wish you all the best if you do but the amount you get out will no equal what you put it!

We now realised our mistake in our last project and the new one is a bit better!

camaro + 4L v6 in bin + 5.7L ls1 + stroker kit + holley 750 carb + mahoosive inlet plenum + mad cam = big fun and lots of noise!

give it 6 months and will be rocking up in that beast! (we are quite impulsive! he watched transformers and bought the car!haha)

I have spent a lot on my car and i know i would be disappointed if it didnt shift! which i think you may be when yours is finished if you decide to eaton the 1.4. yeah my mates capri didnt shift as much as we hoped but it was rear wheel drive so it didnt need to be fast- was just som dirty fun on roundabouts!

my mate, stuck a 357 chevy in his capri running nos etc etc, was mad, he is now in his late 20's and it was his 1st car, he cant even afford to run it lol.

My mate stuck a supercharged 24v Granada Cosworth engine into his Capri...

Everyone seems to have a mate who has put a silly engine in a Capri

mate i think you should buy a 1.8t engine from a seat ibiza, like i have, then it will bolt strait in and run it on a turbo and supercharger

look you know its money down the drain on this 1.4, iv got a 1.6 8v and iv been on the case for year on and off thinking on what to do.

iv looked at mistro turbo lumps as the box on the polo are the same type as on mg mistros only to find that the turbo one was completely different box!

thought about a 16v gti polo turbo engine but the blocks look the same as the 8v and not a massively different bhp difference to the 1.6 8v so binned that

some on did tell me that the polo saloons had a 2.0 8v but i was never able to find one down the breakers

its the same as the polo engine, its not made for power, its a economy engine, run the charger on low boost "if you can" if it blows up, move onto the next stage

you could fit a polo 1.4 16v throttle body on to your plastic inlet, its much much larger then the 1.4 and 1.6 8v one.

" your need to take the throttle body apart and cut down the hamer head ristrictor thing inside, fit it and your figure out that the auto idle will be up and down, this is because of the larger air flow to the engine, inside the throttle body theres tracks that the sensors run on and you can adjust the sensors to combat this or i think in the end i cut the wire to the motor that adjusts the throttle position only to solder it back on as i found another way to combat the idle problem, cant remember but your figure it out as i did",

the plastic inlet cut out the old hole to the size of the new 1.4 16v throttle body with a drimmel tool or b&q do there own kind of one for £30, make sure you dont drop chucks of plastic into the inlet "if youv got time take the inlet off then do it"

now your find the old rubber gasket dont fit anymore, so to make it air tight, go to halfords and buy gasket sealent or go to the glue and filler, sand paper department and look for the black sealent for locket or locktight "cant remember" and this drys in about 10 min and is really good stuff.

now run a generous amount around the new hole on the inlet "making sure none gets in the inlet or on the throttle body" screw down the throttle body to the inlet and leave to dry

anyway i done this mod a long time ago so you will need to fav about abit but it does work and i got more responsiveness and gunt from the engine after wards

your lucky its a ibiza, at lest you can pretty much fit any vw lump into it, unlike the polo :doubt:
