No remote amp wire on head unit

Featured Replies

Hi, i currently have a quite old head unit it has an amp out but it doesnt have a remote switch out for the amp.

Any ideas on what i could do? Could i just wire it in to the positve wire on the head unit? Or would the amp be on all the time?

Any help would be great, thanks Dan

does the head unit have an auto aerial output? could splice into this

think you can wire into the ignition but don't not really sure how to go about doing this

or wire it up to the battery with an spst switch and a suitable fuse, not 100% sure but think my alpine amp mentioned a 0.3amp fuse?

There will be a red ignition wire into the main loom behind the head unit. splice it use that for amp turn on. Nice and easy :D

if you didnt use a remote switch then the amp would be on all the time.

you could wire in a switch and put it on the dash, i did see some sub and amp packaged that do have remotes for the amp to turn the amp up and down

you can run on ther power red lead or the electric ariel lead splice it in either of thouse and it will come on with the headunit

r u sure ther aint a blue wire!!

thers always a blue wire!!!

espcialy if u hav phonos to run an amp!!!

Wrong, the ignition live is only live when the ignition is on. hence the name ;) And the the remotes you saw with the packages were just a loudness control. (or sometimes gain control)

I did my mates car from the ignition and its perfect. The only trouble with the ignition live is the fact you get a small pop when turning you turn off the ignition. But there are ways around it.

I did mine of the remote live (igintion live, swtiched live what ever you wish to call it) and mine works as above just with a small pop when you turn it on or off iirc but works fine for me
