When I brake my car judders until I release the brake pedal

Everything regarding ,suspension, brakes, tyres has been replaced recently apart from the arb bushes

Is this what causes this and how difficult are they to change

Anyone?

Judder is caused by many things, and just cos they've been recently replaced doesn't mean they're correct and not the cause of the issue..

Things that cause judder

- warpped disks

- worn bushes

- worn engine mounts

- unbalanced tyres ... have an balance weights fallen off (usually you get a wheel vibration at certain road speeds as well)

- Strut top mounts... slop or play in the strut, but you should have 'pull' when driving as well but may not be noticeable.

- other suspension components, although ARBs are less likley to be the cause (not common)

I've had brake judder on a number of cars and mostly its down to warrped disks. Check that pads are returning when you realse the barke as VAG calipers are known to stick on higher mileage. This means the pad is touching the disk all the time and they heat up and warp. You feel it when driving as the friction isn't enough to notice.

They can stick for a number of reason but 2 coomon ones are; dirt / deposits between pad and caliper mean pad doesn't slide smootjly and freely when pushed by piston, and also the slides (under rubber seal) can bend ever-so-slightly causing the caliper to srtcik and not return the pad.

Can't comment on which model of caliper / set-up you have by I've experinced both of these issue on F & R calipers on 2 Audis (80 and A3) and 2 Golfs I've owned (MKII GTis.)

On the Audi 80 I replced the disks ands pads and the problem reoccured and the bew sets of disk/pads were fooked within 500 miles - had to buy new slides to cure problem.

Anyway, just check these things and eliminate them as you go.

Have you had the tracking done as well?

Within the past 2-3 months

Its had new shocks+springstop mounts,tyres(not cheapo make either),wheel bearings,discs and pads

and had the tracking checked twice

As I say its only more noticable since the rock hard philJ kit was removed

Most polo I've owned have done this, even my g40 so wondering if its a common fault

Will have a nosey at the weekend
