Just thought i'd let you know a little bit about all the barbie pink cars we've been seeing on our roads.

Was down at the garage tonight to pick up the passat after it's had its CV joint done and there was a barbie pink micra on the ramp. I had a close look around it. Sad to say, it's been in a big smash in its past, so bad that the sill has buckled, chassis legs bent, etc. This car probably should have never seen our roads again. The wheel arch liners were held in by cable ties, the car was painted (pink) with all the parts still on it, you could see the overspray where the windows had been masked off badly, but this is not the worst part! The Sill was filled with bodge, very badly. Stevie Wonder could have done a better job! You could see where the front end had been pulled out using the tow eye and you could see where the chassis legs had been straightened with a hammer (if you could call them straight)

Whoever has painted it, hasn't even had the sense to remove the numberplate before painting the car, they've just masked it off!

Sadly, a fair few of these "barbie" cars are like this, bought by women who do not know what they are looking at and they're being taken advantage of. Often they are being bought as first cars and are killing 17/18 yr old girls, it's a crying shame.

Theres a kiddy who just deals in buying write of shopping carts (Polo, Corsas, Ka, Clio etc) and just repairs them enough to look good and paints them pink cause lasses will buy them without having them properly checked out.

Thats why they are pink, cause no man would every go to buy one but women who know fuck all about cars will see its pink and pay the dollar for it.

Good marketing if you ask me.

Yeah thats exactly what it is.

They buy damaged cars, repair them then spray them pink to make them more sellable. For a whole new respray to be feasable they must be in a pretty bad way tbh.

Generally the paint them in very flat pink colours so they don't need to do a great job of it. When you see them up close the paint is generally shocking.

mmm, I had a feeling they weren't always what they were cracked up to be. Why would anyone ruin perfectly normal paintwork just to turn it pink? At best, I thought they'd be tired cars which hadn't been looked after, with dented panels and crap paintwork, tarted up in pink because that was all what was left to do (a proper repair/respray robbing any profit from the sale).

There's a garage near me which always seems to have 3-4 to choose from.

There is a pink car in peterhead the the paint actually looks ok, and the car looks straight enough.

The thing is with the pink cars how do they get through MOT's and stuff with bend chassis and shit?

I like to think of them as future MOT fails. Will go through the first few okay with advisories which won't get looked at then one year it'll end up in the scrap heap.

You know I'm gonna use this as an excuse to speak to any really fit birds that drive these pink cars now. Be their superman and save their life hehe.

Now come on! I am a girl, who knows what shes lookin for when looking at cars! I fully checked over the one I've just bought and the one I currently own. (I did take my dad the first time).

Its only people who seem to be mezmerized by the colour pink that would buy these.

And to be honest, pink cars look rubbish anyway.

I'm the same as imagine, dont know a great deal about cars but know what to look out for when I'm buying one especially a polo seen as how I've had 3 now haha, always take my man with me aswell tho just incase, pink is way to tacky and just attenton seeking if u ask me x

Thats not the point of this thread. There are pleanty of girls who know loads about cars. These cars are aimed at people who know very little and are often hiding a very nasty secret.

There are totally legit pink cars too though!
