at the min its earthed to a screw  what should i earth it too? the earth wire is only about a foot long if that

to a screw? where abouts is you are screw

i find to get read of protection just take all power from it remote power earth and speakers then re attach all sometimes works for me at work...

Could be a supply or earth issue. If you forgot to put the supply fuse in, the amp might power up in protection mode through the remote wire.

If you are earthing through a screw, you need to consider the current than an amp needs to power up.

Did you clean the metal behind the screw to create a proper earth. is it a big enough screw, bearing in mind the thickness of the power lead.

may be a stupid question but i always think start with the basics, is the gain turned up n not turned so its 0 as this would mean there is little or singal going to the sub

ps dont mean to be paronizing just know I've missed things like fuses n mute buttons before.
