Hi i just recently bout my first polo gti although the wheels are in the usual state of disrepair with the chrome around the outside corroding. I was wondering whether the center of the wheel can be bolted off so that the chrome on the outside can be repaired by itself because the remenider of the wheel is fine. A guy at a refurb shop said that he would have to do the whole wheel would that be right or is there any other way? Any advice would be great.

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he's talking bollocks. I can't see any reason why you couldn't just get the outside polished if that's all that needs re-furbing.

better being split to be honest! the bolts on the rims are simply undone and the basket reomved the lacquer previously on there stripped off and then either re polished and left (personally i think this is the best option) or polished and re lacquered!

if you choose the latter what previously has happened will happen again as stone chips cause the lacquer to spider and cse scabs and blisters on the finish!

with litle effort a small un lacquered polished rim can be kept spot on!

Are the bolts easy to remove and put back in ? Theres no locktight on the nuts or anything?
