Simple job i am sure but the mud flaps are turning into a right pain in the arse to get off. 2 of them have come off easy, 2 are not so easy........But the main problem that i have is that i wanted to keep my black plastic arches on the polo but i have snapped one of the little rivet things on the drivers side rear so the arch hangs off a little. Looks pretty crappy. What can/should i use to re attach the arch cover? Think some of the rivet is still suck in the arch. Any ideas or help?

If they are similar in design to the MK2 Golf arches, what i have done in the past (not normally the best way) is to geta large flat bladed screw driver on the head of the rivet and strike it with a hammer, this normally takes care of the rivet.

To refit i have used s/steel self tappers or big rivets and washers, you could also use sikkaflex adhesive stuff to grip.

Done and Done!! Sweet!! cheers

If you ever need to do it again (those arches hide rust,and will start coming off where the rear arches meet the sills if you dont treat any rusty metal under there before too long),note that the rivets come out with two seconds and a battery drill. Think i used a 4mm drill bit,removed the whole kit in about one minute.

You may find it a can of worms - you wont thank me when you take the kit off,prod about with a screwdriver and find holes and cornflakes everywhere.

But is ignorance bliss,with such a timebomb? Thats for you to decide.

Ha ha ha ha. I hope i don't find any cornflakes or any other rusty crap but i better check either way i guess. Didn't end up taking them off the other night just took off the mudflaps which is a pain in the arse to say the least. Will i need a rivet gun?? Probably be able to get one from somewhere. Not looking forward to taking them off now. If there is nothing under there am i better just to leave them off??
