changed my disc's and pads today,and could i get that little screw out that holds the disc in place,

anyway popped into tool-man a got an impact driver for £2.99. that sorted the little git out, WHACK ! one smack and job done.

am now looking for other things to smack with it as it is now my favorite tool :-D

I took some brakes off today but luckily the stupid screw wasn't rounded or anything so came off pretty easily. Thankfully! Everything came of easily actually, other than having to chop the nuts off the tie rod ends!

Disc screws are easy - a swift tug of the disc,stretches the head,releases the pressure,and with a light tap to free the thread its loose.

Tie rod nuts however are an iceberg. Why they dont have an 8mm in the top to hold the thread,like a damper piston,i dont know.

I use a screwdriver with a nice big T-handle on for brake disc screws. Cost £2 off a car boot with 3 different ends and does the job brilliantly.

Tie rods are easy. Coat the nut in WD40 the night before. Before you try to undo them., smack them from underneath, hard, with a lump hammer then undo them.

Or just use a buzz gun.

I think we all do that sometimes, i bought a touch-up pen for my car and when i did all the chips on the outside i started on the engine bay!

Not a Polo tip, but MK1 Golf, when removing steering rod arms, undo bolt & belt the shit out of the hub arm to sterring rod arm.......will just pop out then!!!

the disc will just spin freely otherwise when your wheel bolts are out

Yea I bloody snapped both of them on my mates genesis, hate the lil twats... You only need them to locate the disc easily anyway, not really important.

Just get yourself a set of screw extractors, they're fookin ace.

Never understood the need to undo polo steering arm balljoints when youre doing the suspension, unless you're fitting whole new struts... Easier just to crack the arms off from the steering rack, you're gone need the tracking sorting anyways so its no big deal! Saves so much time and ballache its unreal.
