Mods That Wont Affect Insurance

Featured Replies

Me: say in the future ( meaning i allready have them ) i wanted to moddify my car, what would i need to declair.

Quinn Direct : There are only two main things which are, Suspension and Increasing the BHP.

Me: What about Sterio's and Speaker Ect.

Quinn Direct: Yeh thats fine.

Me: But is that insured.

Quinn: No.

So basicly quinn direct allow stuff like badless grill, Ice , Tints ect, but they dont insure it so if you break it as you write your car off your tuff luck.

Silly aint they, on my old golf gti, usual any mods etc, yes k&n air filter, jemex zorst badgeless grill, eyebrow, front and rear struts, stripped.. and does the air filter add performance..?no i say only makes a racket, oh thats fine then, any other mods?well was thinkin about puttin some koni shocks and springs on, ah says the irish woman that will be an extra 198 pounds.. ok wont be puttin those on *cough* still had them on, way i see it is if you are only 3rd party, not going to be able to make a claim anyways so who gives!

I'm with Adrian Flux. I'm a 19 year old with just under a year's driving experience. I recently dropped my car 60/60 on Phil J springs. I phoned up Adrian Flux expecting a large addition to my premium, but I told them that my old shock absorbers were knackered and I needed to replace the suspension (which was true). I explained that upgrading to a more modern suspension setup would be preferable to me, but that would involve lowering the car 60mm. They put me on hold for 15 mins, and then told me there would be no extra charge, and thanked me for letting them know about the mod!

my car has indcution kit , lowerd 70mm , red HT leads and pipes, ats classics. I haven't declared any off this... I'm with tesco , they dont even accept mods. But its simple really , as soon as i crash i swap insuarnce documents over etc etc and then if I'm able drive it home if not. Recovery truck , then i simply change all the old things back onto the car.

god damn your stupid

Especially as tesco do accept mods

Not on value insurance.

Know this has been said. Brentacre seem to be ok with most cosmetic mods, wheels etc (my experience).

I was with Tesco's when I had my golf and declared all mods (all cosmetic again) and the premium didn't go up either.

Most times I am not so worried if I damage my car because it wouldn't be worth claiming, they'd prob just write it off if it was the Mk1! But my worry is always that if I crash into a Ferrari and don't declare my mods I have to pay to fix the Ferrari because they'll say my insurance isn't valid! That would be stupid .....

I am just about to renew my G40 policy at the same time as adding some extra BHP so I will shop around for best policy declaring all of that. Peice of mind? It's a bit unfortunate if you are half with through a policy and your insurer gives a big fat NO!
