i know that the polo g40s use VWII calipers as standard, are teh carriers the same as the mk1 golf carriers?

if so that means the 280mm brakes with the adaptors i have will fit straight on.

anyone know which other polos can fit these?

just wondering as I'm selling the conversion and want to advertise it on the bay for as many cars as possibly

i can measure up the distance between the two mounting points on the hub if needs be where the adaptor bracket sits :)

naw paid 280 but that was with new hubs and bearings, they showed 16v calipers (ie lucas 54) on the ebay ads but sent vwIIs instead, i was non the wiser as i knew fuck all about brakes, i do now tho woop

Mk I Golf carriers are compatible with 86C polo's (75-94)

So you can use Golf Mk I Conversions for 280mm brakes on the Polo

Will they go in 14s? I'll have some if they go in 14s. Cut them down a bit,and i'll cut discs down to about 270mm.

256's off the shelf,thats what we need. Must be an engineers around here who can modify a 6n carrier,iron's easy enough to weld? :hmm:

I've been tempted to get a machinist to cut down the discs to 256mm for me and i could make two extra holes in the bracket to give me the correct offset for the brakes, job would be a good un

managed to pick up a proper old school autocavan 270mm kit

quick research lesson :-

autocavan started back in the 1970s as a performance vw specialist, they got taken over by GSF who then proceeded to stop selling all the sweet stuff.

but anyway I'm waiting for the brackets to arrive and i can find out for myself if its actually the autocavan kit.

afaik the autocavan kit uses turned down 280mm discs (to 270mm), the discs in question are G60's...

the TSR kit uses Rover 800 series discs, which are 285, theses are re-drilled to 4 x 100 and turned down to 270. the offset is shallower than the g60 discs which arent interchangable (although possibly with the use of washers you may be able to space teh disc enough...

I'm hoping its teh autocavan kit as it means all i have to do is get my existintg discs turned down and not have to buy a set of 270mm discs from TSR at 140 not including vat
