Hi all i'm new to this club. I've recently just bought a 05 VW Polo 1.4 SE TDI PD. I used to own a Toyota Yaris but needed a diesel and i have always loved dubs.

I need advice, my rear wheels are stuck onto the hubs of my car. I've tired hitting them with a soft hammer and its just not happening, has anyone got any advice as to how to get them off, i was considering taking then to VW?

Give them a bit fo grief they will come off mate ..

Iff anything take it to a tyre fitter rather than VW they tend to rape you ..

All they will do i probabbly tat em with a hammer and wiggle them around too ..

slacken the wheel bolts off a bit, then wobble the back end of the car

I usually use the old kicking opposite ends of the wheel (IE 0 degrees and 180 degrees) and going round it if you get what i mean. Should wiggle it free. Then make sure you whack a load of copper grease on them before you put them back on

A blow torch will break the rust bond mate...but a blowtorch near alloy wheels isn't the best idea!

What about boiling water?

I've just finished, got all 4 wheels off fitted my mud flaps and slapped a load of copper grease on and its a goodern! Took a fair bit of doing though!

Did you just keep hammering them then?

Remove all four wheel bolts,take it to about 60mph,and do a handbrake turn into a kerb. That'll get it off.

If you dont fancy all that damage,get the car well secured on a low axle stand and do what Heartagram says - roll the wheel slowly,and knock the wheel outwards as you turn it. A leather hammer is best - my copper hammer has a copper head one end,and leather the other side. Its safe to tap an alloy rim with it. Persevere,but dont get under the car and start getting carried away kicking it to death.

It was a bit of a job i used the kicking it from one side to another, 0 to 180 degrees. Hard work but it was worth it!
