So, dipped-beam bulb went and died on passenger side, I pop it out and check it by popping it in drivers side. When I took the back of the light housing on drivers side and pulled the wire of the dipped beam / bulb the inner housing is rockering back-n-forth around a point 3/4 to right looking in engine bay. Its rockers on the horizontal with smidge of vertical movement.

Passneger side is rock solid.

Anyway, new bulb fitted but when I put it all back together, before I replace rear casing there's essentially two positions it can go in and when rear casing is on it doesn't move about inside the actual light housing.

Do the inner casings move like this and if so what am I looking for interms of clips, locating slots or what not to find the right loaction, or does it sound [from your experience] that something is broken.

Finally, the Passenger side doesn't move up/down when you adjust the head-light level, so now the Drivers side at level 0 is higher than the passnger (they level out about 1.5 - 2 on the leveller). So, I don't know if a) the motor in passnger side broke when lights were down at level 2, or if the way I refitted drivers side is too high.

Interim solution is to set the level at 2 and both are the same but need to know some more about the workings of these lighst

So, if anyone has had these or similar issues, and have had their lights out and refitted them successfuly please share what you know - otherwise it'll be suck it and see on the weekend when I'll get a good chance to rip it out and poke about in there.

Ok, on further inspection I can answer one part of the problem.......... the passenger head-lamp has been replaced at soe point is is not the right one. It does have the motor to move it up and down - bummer.

Still can't suss out the wobble, and now I'm not sure where my light should be set at height wise.

It all looks good from 30ft away, ie not blinding so I'll leave just now and get it check when I suss out the wobbly inner casing.

Anyone got anything to add to help me out, feel free to do so.

the wobbling is due to a defect in the headlight unit. the adjuster pin closest to the outer case of the headlamp becomes fragile due to the heat of the headlamp. They replaced this in new units with a different plastic to stop this happeneing again :)

Thanks............ and bugger! I guess I could buy a new one, but with the back casing on the inner unit is held in place so doesn't move. I've re-set the light position on both units and all looks good. Bit miffed that someone replaced one of the units with the wrong one, but chance of having 2 fatties in the back which would required the lights to be lowered is slim-to-feckall.

So, I think I'll leave it be now, no more fiddling cos I'm sure to fook it up if I do.
