So i'm thinking of having a wing vent but as i don't have a welder and would probably make a mess if i did, thought about getting a wing and using a angle grinder to make the necessary slits. Anyone done it like this before? Anything i've got to think about before/whilst i do it?

i would measure twice cut once and then i would go out and buy a dremel as a grinder is a fairly clumsy tool that can make a mess preety quick besta' luck with it

I defineately use a dremmel type tool over an angle grinder for the task!

and you might want to make a wooden mould to go behind the vents so that once cut you can hammer or somehow push the edges in. you're going to need to respray the area afterwards so I hope you've got a nice easy colour to match with.

I'd say it was a lot of hassle if you're not going to be getting a lot of work done at the same time...

Good luck with it though. Take lots of pictures and put up a little guide thing - even if it's just for interest! :)

Jon just get a vent welded in it shouldn't cost you much to get done, then smooth/paint it afterwards yourself.
