Just checking through "my ebay" and it seems that last night i may have bought a set of hydraulic bonnet lifters.

Never mix alcohol with ebay...

Anyway, does anyone have these on? How are they fitted? Apparenlty this one doesnt need and holes drilled?!

If you're fitting them to a mk4, then you will need to drill a hole in the driver's side wing, but not the passenger side. On the passenger side, you can take a bolt out, but the wing bolt holes are not in the same places on both sides.

Ha, i knew it wouldnt be totally drilling free. No worries, just might have to buy some metal drillbits. Unless the new ones compensate on one side for the offset holes?

No drilling on the bonnet required. You just remove one of the bolts that attach the bonnet to the hinge on each side, and screw the mount for the bonnet lifter in there.

1 will hold the bonnet up, until it gets windy! One of mine is not exactly attached to the bonnet coz the holes are different sizes and i was stumped for ideas on how to remedy it!

If the hole is too big you could do what my mum does and put a spent match in it to make it smaller. but maybe that's only a good idea for putting a shelf in the wall.

Its not as though i defiantely need it to be 100% right as the bonnet stays open with only 1 lifter but it would look better instead of one bolt slightly hanging out the hole. i was gonna get a bolt the right size helded over the hold but its the wrong side of the hinge!
