Fitting a 268/264 tomorrow - do i set the camshaft timing to standard ie no teeth out either way?

yes as normal unless you have a vernier pulley

it's a schrick 268/264 - i don't yet have a veneer pulley...

Am i right in saying that when the block is at a quarter of a turn before TDC, valves cannot hit pistons?

Also, anyone got any tips of getting the camshaft pulley bolt out (stopping it turning etc...?)

some cam manufacturers dont grind thier cams on the same timing marks as the oe cam, the last piper cam i bought was 5 teeth out at TDC, if you are in any doubt, TDC is when number 4 intake valve is just opening, and number 4 exhuast valve is just closing, TDC is when they are both open equal amounts

Schrick cams time up as stock cams do.
