they look so much better then them gt brakes i got.

yes they will, g40's have 13"s as standard..

not always true. i have a set of 13" ats classics and they will not fit over my g40s brakes without the use of spacers.

They will most likely fit, its more a case of whether you will need adapter (and how thick) or not.

to be fair, g40 brakes fit behind the vast majority of 13" wheels, there's always going to be some exceptions with daft offsets etc.... You should be able to use non-g40 carriers with g40 calipers to fit them behind 13" ats classics.

Just see if there's enough room between your existing caliper and rim for another 10-12mm of caliper.

I have standard steelies on my mk3 coupe and G40 calipers fit fine.

I've no experience with ATS wheels,but i do know that G40 discs and calipers work with standard Polo carriers aswell as the G40 ones,but are a lower profile - meaning they have the clearance for more wheels. If the slots wont roll with G40 carriers,just use the standard ones you already have. If you have to pay extra for the G40 carriers,there's your risk. Its up to you.

Standard installed G40 front brakes (ie on a G40) protrude past the hub mounting face by a fair few mm and therefore I doubt that they will clear the back of the "spokes" on a slotmag which wasn't designed for FWD applications.

The offset of a wheel doesn't directly indicate its ability to clear brakes. Lower offset wheels (ie ones that stick out) will invariably provide a bigger diameter clearance as the wheel mountingface is futher away from the wheelwell seaction but as for the ability to clear the protrusion of a caliper ...that is down to wheel design.

this was exactly the prob i had when trying to fit the ats wheels to my g40. what does that funny bit that pokes out proud of the hub face on the g40 carriers do? is it just for added cooling? what would happen if i was pikey and cut them off?currently i have 25mm spacers which solve the clearance issue but the tyres now poke out and i dont want them to!

It is all about centersection height. I have fitted 13's over my Rocco 256mm brakes on the G40. ATS Classics have a very low center section height, giving less room for calipers
