I realise some people will hate what I've done to my car, but i want to run a charger (love the noise) i want hefty power and dont want to dish out stacks of money for similar power. I tried to make it as discreet as possible and dont think I've done a bad job. The car will be ready the start of next year, its going into the bodyshop november and ill be working on it in december. I've still got a long way to go but I'm starting to make some progress but lack of funds has meant a slow start

have you got the g40 engine in? i think its a shame to see a hole in such a mint car but oh well, sure it will be swwet when finished

yeah i have the engine in, not wired up though, just in a mock up at the moment to see where to route boost hoses etc

you can't even see the hole! Imo it's gonna be awesome. End of the day it's your car anyways so it doesn't matter what I think, but for what its worth, I think you've done great.

it did take a bit of balls to go out and cut my motor up, and to take out a perfect engine but i think its for the best, should be fairly quick when its finished. Just got to get my intercooler behind the grill now and to see if the toothed belt/pulleys will clear the chassis leg

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I fuckin' love this car.

It looks soo right, the colour, lowering and choice of wheels are perfect IMO.

However, with it being such an old skool type of car I would have kept it N/A. A modified 1.4 16 valve with ported head, different cams, a decent 4 branch manifold and a pair of throttle bodies with proper stand alone management would be expensive and may only give around 150 bhp, BUT.... imagine the sound!

Instant throttle response, deep induction roar and screaming it round to the red line would be just the bollox.

Anyhow, you have decided to take the G40 route. Will still be bloody great if its done to your usual standard.

but surely this route would require even more hacking around of panels and re-engineering of the bay? the only 1.4 16v mk1s I've seen cant even shut the bonnet properly! they have to be propped open by a few inches at the rear. and thats before you even think about getting throttle bodies in there!

But a supercharger is an old school form of tuning.

Superchargers were available in kits for mini's/beetles/early fords back in the day

Tasty colour!.. its a shame the front panel has to be modified.. but if its the way to do it then its gonna be worth it for such a machine!

Dont listen to all the grief anyway.. really its just mk3 owners wishing they had to cut bits to make their forced induction fit, because it would mean their car was a good hundred kilo's lighter from factory
