Its my half-term holiday again..... so its time for a new project! (i made my green MK square last time) So here is what has gone on today! - will be painted the same matt green as my other polo.

- removed rear

- removed roof

- lined up and attached the boot lid to its new position

Job for tomorrow:

- go to scrappy to find another tailgate - to cut off under the window aperture to create the rear of the flat bed!

Things to be thought about more:

- might have to put 2 strengthening bars in from the roof of cab to the rear strut top - to stop banana trouble.

- A truck exhaust type stack up the rear of the cab

Looks pretty good, I've certainly never seen that done before.

Good progress for just one day aswell.

absolute class, will look cool slammed! dunno if you will have much luck finding a tailgate down bloxham scrappy though. was down there today and there are a couple of saloons, a mk3 coupe, a mk4 and a seat van with the 1.5 derv lump still in it. would you be interested in a set of alloys for the pickup?

I will put a big sheet of marine ply in the back (make a little frame for it to sit on - might have a hinge bit on it so i can get to the spare wheel.

Might paint it matt sand colour - desert storm job:P

Mine is Suzuki based built to green laning It handles like a SJ as the chassis and running gear are mainly untouched.

Any idea how you are going to do your tailgate. Opening or not ? If you go opening good luck. It was probably the hardest bit to get right and I had the advantage of no rear bumper to get in the way. If you want pictures of my hinge's or anything let me know.

thats going to look pimp when its finished with i had a work shop of somwere i could do something like that !

their Uk's are all in such a way moves is the pure insanity!!!! = D

things that have been done:

- finished welding in the old tail gate (cab back)

- removed petrol tank (got a new one lined up ready to go in (failed MOT on it))

- I had a trip out to Coventry to pickup a secondhand tailgate (to make the new back(they seem to be getting harder to find!))

- cut down new tailgate and welded in place.

- Made end caps to cover corner of rear wings (where the rear roof pillars were) and corner of new tailgate.

- Filled the wiper and lock hole from new tailgate - also smoothed number plate hole.

- Made a strengthening frame running the length of the pickup bed (also makes a level frame to put a floor onto)

- got a load of checker-plate from the local scrappy to cover inside of rear wings and bottom of the rear of cab.

- Removed all beading, bumpers, handles (all outside things!) and started rubbing down in ready for some paint.
