I have searched and found several people with same problem but not a deffinate answer...

I fitted the coilovers on my brothers 6N2 this morning, they are FK Highsports...

Dropped them a good distance about 3/4s down... Looks the dog danglies...

BUT

as soon as he turns the wheel left or right theres a clunking...

What have I done wrong?

What excatly should I have put on the new suspension set up from the old set up?!

Can someone help me a.s.a.p?

you need the top mounts of the old shocks this includes the rubber and the metal top mount and the washer to allow them to rotate

are they tightened up properly?

Yeah, theyve got them on I think buddy.

The seem to be tightened properly, shall I get the nut inside the engine bay tightened by air gun to check?!

I've got the same problem with my 6n2... dropped it about 70mm on springs and shocks... i opened the bonnet and the black caps that cover the suspension bit (mind my lack on knowledge) wouldnt secure properly as the top of the suspension is too long and sticking out... this also moves around when i full lock left or right so I'm guessing the knocking is the black cap hitting the bonnet.... please help me and Youngdan guys as it is bloody nasty!

You don't need the black cap, this is just a cover for the original strut tops and doesn't fit onto aftermarket suspension.

It certainly isn't normal for the suspension to be clunking and if the strut top is moving around I would suggest that it is this that is making the noise not the black cap hitting the bonnet. Double check that all parts of the top mount have been fitted to the car with the coilies and that everything is tightened up correctly.

I'm running KW coilies on my GTi and I've got no movement and no clunking from the suspension.

I'm heading back to the garage on sunday to get the front springs/shocks re-fitted... lets see what happens.. i didnt thinkg it would be the black cap making the sound..lol..kinda hoping it was to be honest! Any suggestions as to what it could be so i can point it out to the mechanic...? Sorry for thread jacking YoungDan... this applies to both of us i guess!

I've got Coilovers on, and I've got a clunking on the near side. The clunking comes from the top hat as its not tight to the chasse, as when i go over a bump it knocks the chasses when the suspension drops.

Looking at it, the nuts ar as tight as i can get it and i put in new top mounts when installing the coilovers, so i'm thinkin up ideas at the moment

Doubt it because there were no issues before i put the suspension on....
