Am i right in thinking you can't insure a car unless you at least have a provisional?? Only I'm a bit worried about my car sat at home right now...is my insurance totally void??

Do what i did. Dont tell them. Keep the insurance going it will help towards your next years no claims and also make it easier to insure your car again properly once you have your licence back. Also cheaper aswell, Once I'm back on the road my insurance for the polo hardly changes. No other company can come close to my quote from Bell who I'm with now.

what happened to your license? is this to do with that bell end on the mopped? by the sounds of what your saying it seems you might of already got rid of your insurance? if so have i was reading some thing earlier and there was a mention of a 0 miles cover, that only covers for fire and theft but the car needs to be garaged and not driven at all, it was by HIC insurance, heres a link to the thread... link to ed38 forum.

wouldn't of thought you would need a license for that as it wouldn't be driven.

hope that helps.

Yea its to do with the Moped guy...who now drinks where i work..cheeky git....

I am still appealing it, but atm i dont even have a provisional. I got my appeal on the 16th Nov so hopefully that will go well, esepcially as he had made a miraculous recovery lol and my sentence was based on his lengthy recovery time in a wheel chair which clearly is not an issue anymore

I haven't told my insurance company anything except i had the accident. So i was just worried if the pikeys who live near me (not a great area) decided to steal it would i have a leg to stand on if they looked into my driving record having not being totally honest my insurance deemed void?

you can get "laid up" insurance policies which cover a car that's off the road and not being used.

Well yes, but what i am asking do you need to have some form of licence to drive...i currently hold no licence at all till november not even a provisional

hmm good point, well I'm not 100% certain on that I guess you'll have to do some phoning. Personally I can't see why they would care if you had a license of any sort or not since the policy would specifically be for a car not being used.

Can't see it making a difference aslong as it's just sat on your driveway. Phone them up though to make sure

Hmmm well i might be getting my licence reinstated till my appeal (woop) all i have to do is write a lovely professional email (none of this snail mail rubbish these days) and be totaly pleading and polite. Solicitor reckons it will work, so hopefully i will be driving my baby again at some point this weekend...bummer if it doesnt work out like that though :(

cant you get your mum or dad to insure the car

Hell no coz then they will use it and abuse it...my mum kills every car she gets in

Can't you tell her not to drive it? Hide/keep the keys at all times?

Lol last time i was home...with a licence..as i left for the train station to go back to uni she checked i had left my keys and where.

Just got home now and it was so hard to walk past my car, grrr its going to bug me everytime i leave the house this weekend
