Recaro Pole Position Seats?

Featured Replies

Looking into seating options for the G40. I want something suited to on road driving as well as a bit of track work. I've driven a track-day spec'd Porsche 968CS owned by Callum Lockie (legend) which had the standard seats still intact and CG Lock seat belt devices.

The seats in the CS are very similar to the Recaro Pole Position seats.

Comfort and performance are key but the seat also has to look good in the car. Nothing worse than mis-matching seats in a car they aren't designed for.

I was wondering does anyone have these? If so how is the fit/driving position?

I would need some sort of subframe or brakets? Not really sure what to look for here? Any pointers...

Seats look like this:

Always colour coded in the Porsche...

Open to other suggestions...perhaps something that reclines for added comfort. I may just get these...v.volkswagen esque:

...more comfort orientated...fabric not leather:

Quite like these but not sure they would suit, recline which is a bonus. Much the same as Honda Type R seats.

Sports lower cushion...more for my size...

Bump.....also interested in people's opinions.

I want these in mine, they're about as supportive as you can get without going for full on buckets. I don't want buckets in my car, they won't suit it.

However, I will need to have them retrimmed. So it'll get expensive!

i got fiesta rs turbo seats

re trimmed in leather

the bases are the original rs base's bolted to a base made to fit the mk3 runners still uses the ford runners tho, it doesnt need to be complex....mine's just box section welded together.

the part holding it on is at the front of the normal mk3 seat where theres that springs bolt thing that should normally opperate the runners on the standard seats, on the new base's it just holds them in place and has no function

al try get some pics of the base's if anyone wants some

theres a seat by recaro i think it is and its the seat in the rs4 these are really cool seats are are very supportive, but also if you want cheap quality seats try magnum bucket seats

Recaro's like the CS ones are sidemounted so you would need some sidemount subframes, Driftworks sell some really low ones.

I've got a Corbeau Pro Series XL (Fat bastard spec) for mine but keeping the other seats. Not sure what I will be doing about the harness situation though...although those CG lock things are meant to be good. My passengers can suffer in GT spec seats :D

PS, those CS seats are tight as fook, I've been in a 968CS too, almost didnt get out!

Edit= I had some Corbeau GTS recliners in my GT but even after chopping up the subframes, they sat way too high.

thats another thing you have to consider.....the height of the seat. luckily mine sit just right, but some can sit whey too high....

A friend has them in his Mk6, not very supportive...slidey leather...and there are better looking seats. Certainly pull off the luxury look well.

Love the Ford Recaro's...perfect shape for a Mk3 Polo.

I've driven a 968 CS around croft. You can just see the white backed Recaro's in the picture. Belongs to the guy in the passenger seat...Callum Lockie, British GT Championship winner...he's done Le Mans...Nurburg 24H...

Seats were great, really comfy. He has regular seat belts...can't recall if they have CG Locks on them but he is sponsored by them.

Very nice, what are they from? Or what model are they?

they're out of a rover 600 and came as half leathers, got em for 100 notes then got centres retrimmed for 150, fitting was a bit of a ballache as i had to fabricate and weld new mounts into the floor but there stronger than the originals, if u wanted to do the mount work in a local garage it would cost about 80-100 quid to get em fitted.

That's the ticket! I'm after the same but black leather bolsters with a black suede insert. We shall see...

TT seats are wank lol...

i enjoy recaro seats, fancy a set of reclinable buckets myself, sat in the "speed" model i think its called and they where dead comfy! its all to do with how you get them to fit with the custom subframes and how high/low they are in the car

TT seats are wank lol...

they'd match your old tinted headlights then wont they
