LED kits for Dials / Heater / Switches - Polo 6n/Mk4

Featured Replies

Hi,

I while back I got some White Lockwood Dials developed for the Polo 6n 8v and whilst helping to get these developed I started to put together LED kits for the 6n to change the OEM greenish glow to a more modern blue, red or white or any combination of these.

I have written instructions for the clock removal / dial installation which will be used by Lockwood whenever they sell Mk4/6n dial kits. Also all my kits come with written instructions with photos for carrying out the installation of the illumination kits.

I have many happy customers on the forum who can vouch for my kits.

Also before anyone mentions, my kits aren't the cheapest as some people have told me they "can get it cheaper on eBay", however, these are very cheap LED's bulk bought from the Far East and often produce too much glare and have colour variations as well as a shorter life span. (I've already tried these out and they are far too bright even with the dash dimmer turned down).

Also with me if you get stuck on anything when installing them or just need some advice on getting the equipment needed to install them then I'm just a call or PM away. As always you get what you pay for really, I've spent a while researching colours, voltages and brightness level to select the best level of each for my kits. ( :paranoid: a little geeky but better to buy from someone who knows a bit rather than pile it high sell it cheap sellers!)

Here's the latest custom kit I put together for 'P10GOT', I think the pic speaks for itself :unibrow:

You gotta see it for yourself, it looks much better when you're in the car!

So we'd have to buy lockwood dials first and then your designed lighting kit?

Nope no need to buy the Lockwood dials as I don't sell them anymore they were part of a custom batch for a Group Buy.

The same designed lighting effect can be achieved using your stock black dials!

I have the earlier style clocks, temp and petrol left and right?!?!

I have the earlier style clocks, temp and petrol left and right?!?!

its completely different to change the lights on the earlier clocks. different lights etc, i dont think they are LED either, just a few filament bulbs.

Yea you are right, and you know what they look gay!!

Stupid dials! i might invest in some new dials!

will be interested in these when i get back off hol on the 2nd :D

are new dials a straight swap ?

What about my mileage, will that be affected? This is just the lighting that is being changed is that right? So I wouldn't need to worry about the rev counter being out of sinc having a 6.5k redline or whatever... I would only have to be accurate for those bits if I were having a new fascia.

no mate as long as u re alline the needles to the correct restin postion nothing will change except the lighting

is the milage stored in the ecu ??? where could i get lockwood dials from as i have the early dial clocks and would like to update them

Late spec clocks are a straight swap for older style clocks, they have the same plugs at the rear.

I've now been informed the earlier clocks are not a straight swap as the plugs on the rear are different. I would advise to check the plug socket on the back of your clocks...as the newer style clocks have a BLUE plug socket.

Mileage is stored on the clocks themselves so if you replace old style clocks for late spec. 6n clocks they will have the mileage that is stored on the new clocks.

The rev counter relies on pulses and should be OK as whilst my clocks where at Lockwood I was using a set of clocks with a different redline and they were fine.

Mileage is stored on the clocks themselves.

Lockwood dials:

16v

For late spec. and early spec. 16valve Polo 6n's are available from car accessory retailers such as Halfords or Lockwood themselves.

8v

Early spec. 6n 8valve Lockwood dials available from retailers as above; late spec 6n 8valve were part of a custom batch and have now sold out. They only way to get these produced again would be a Group Buy of at least 10 people.

POLOMON's dial Illumination kit is all Red which is £22 plus p&p.

Could I have the same as P10GOT? But without the blue bits, just them white too.

And the filter, and the window switches and mirror switch, Is that the whole interior? In white or blue?:)
