mines a 98, so later stlye clocks, are they all LED's that need souldering?

yeah i also have the later style clocks. Would you be able to do a red lighting scheme on the dials and heater and window switches?

A price quate aswell.....and how easy would you say it is to put together?

Late spec clocks are a straight swap for older style clocks, they have the same plugs at the rear.

i noticed you said the dials are a straight swap on the later dials as i have them... and the plug is a straight swap so if i was to get hold of a valver unit with the new style dials i could then get one of your kits???

but its just finding a set of valver dials :(

hey mate how can you say that they are straight swap, have you tried them out yourself?! I've bought later specs to replace my earlier specs clocks as I relied on you saying that they are straight swap but discovered that they are not straight swap at all!

The first thing I noticed is that the older clocks are screwed from the sides while the newer clocks screws in from top, the plugs are totally different and won't plug in at all, and also the later clocks seem to be a bit larger and won't sit in the dash at all!

Well that's what I was told when I first joined CP and asked on the old forum . I have had a look, and the plugs are different, however, if you look in a Haynes manual a lot of the wires match up between later and earlier clocks, I haven't looked in depth but that's something you can look into for yourself and you may be able to still transfer the clocks over.

The dashes are essentially the same, perhaps changing the clocks along with the clock surround may be an idea.

Also I still have to see how the hell am I going to put them in there, something's telling me that they will stay where they are...

It was an honest mistake so there's no need to spit the dummy!

Had I sold you a kit and was wrong I would have given you a full refund, however, since you haven't bought anything from me I can only apologise and no more.

People have run 6n2, TT, Golf mk3, Seat Ibiza and Golf Mk4 clocks/dashes with a bit of modding or using an adapter cable from Germany.

If you cannot do or do not want to do any modding one might think you would be incapable to do the illumination change anyway.

You can always sell the clocks on rather than being melodramatic and making out you are stuck with a huge burden or 'White Elephant'.

p.s. If you look on ETKA the earlier Polo 6n dash has the same part number as the later 6n dash!

mate for your information I have already done all my interior illumination ages ago including switches, heater controls and dials so maybe the one incapable of giving correct information (just to sell more of your kits and earn more cash) here is you! I just wanted the later model dials as they light better.

Anyway, I'll still try and see if there's anything I can do to make them fit, just need to find some spare time.

But at the end I do accept your apologies, everyone makes mistakes!

Well I resent that as neither you or any of the 2 people I replied to in good faith; albeit incorrectly, have bought any kits from me. Should there be any problem with my kits I try and help people out via the forum, e-mail or on the phone. My customers can vouch for that as they are the ones who posted up their own pics on the thread.

Information is not given just to sell kits as I got the White dials developed initially and the LED kits were a spin off from that.

Also forgive me if I am wrong, but this is the 'Parts For Sale' section if you had not realised... so yes I sell kits to provide a service to Club Members and make a little bit of cash from it (though not a lot). I would even install the kits if I had the time and people were local to me. As far as being a money making excercise this is far from a 'get rich quick' idea...and I do have a full time day job

Maybe you should become a full Club Polo member and make a little contribution, since you expect so much.

Hi I don't do a kit for older dials at the moment but I'll keep you informed on any developments.

Having said that older dials are lit by filament bulbs shining through a green filter mask. You could possibly change the filter for different colour or use LED bulb equivalents in a colour you choose. Have a look for yourself to make sure.

mate if you are going to do the earlier clocks, don't even think of just replacing the existing filament bulbs as they will remain dull! You should use at least 10 leds at the top for them to be bright like mine...

how much am i lookin at for a whole kit, including heating controls, window switches, dial lights and wing mirror control. I interested in the Blue leds for the controls and blue for the dials.

Jus a quick qu, if i get white lockwood dials, does the red show thru with the blue leds or is a couple red leds needed for that?
