My mrs is an r reg and its got late clocks

It was '98 onwards so R's but definitely S's.

Does anyone know if the later clocks will fit (with some plug adjustments) if you also have the later style clock surround as reading here the later clocks won't just fit in the dash on earlier models? I've been told that the dash in the earlier and later models has the same part no., so wondered if the difference is with the dash surround or if the info on the dash being the same in earlier and later models is wrong?
