Which is the best box to replace with standard g box,

because lets face it the chances of getting on of them is slim.

what does the 8p gearbox come from??

Yup ATV's are rare & command a big premium if you do find one.

8p's are from a 6N iirc & are cheap. It's the closet box in terms of ratios that you will find.

We have run a 8P on our G for sometime with no worries

8ps are from mk2 coupe s and most 5-speed 1.3 (non-gt, non-g40) polos. Chances are there is at least one in your nearest scrappy right now. They're usually cheap as chips. Not quite as good as a G40 box but better suited to it than a gt box.

German ebay is always an option for a proper ATV box if you can find someone on there willing to post it.

The CZG & DCC from the mk4 Polo 6N have the same ratios apart from a slightly lower 5th. The DCC is fitted to the 1.6 6N.

DXH from the 6N is also good to use if memory serves.

CHL and CNU boxes from 1.6's are as good as, if not better than an 8P.
