box out at the weekend for a clutch swop, JOYS!!!

so i was wondering everyone should i polish th ebox up abit to a reasonable condition (not properly polished just shiny) or should i give it some hi temp satin black? i cant decide will also be able to update with shiny bolt pics too i got my polishing flex on AGAIN! shame i still dont have any chromed stuff

Very very difficult call 2 make, the polish would look very slick but the black would look just as slick..difficult call..

Do the gearboxes have an ali casing? I'm guessing so! If so... getting paint to stick will be a biznatch! You'll need to rub it all down and etch primer it first (Upol Acid#8 is pretty good!)

thanks mate, ye I've got some bonding shiz left over from when i did ma mini as for some reason they never managed to keep there painted boxes for long! i think i will polish it up abit see what its like if I'm ot happy piant it as alreast then it has a cleaner base to stick too aswell. cheers dude.

a small update, but its teh smal touches that make the differance :p

I never was to happy with having such big door pins as they can be opened much easier by some pikey thief and when you rest your arm on the door card its always right where the pin shoudl go sooo.... i chopped soem std ones down fibreglassed the top 2 toats of plastic primer 2 of vw black and lacquer...

first pic is of the doors open and second is of them locked to show how they sit in the doors.

oh and just to add they are kinda rounded at the top its just my pikey camera angle skillz lol i rested the cam on the rounded bit of the top of the door card so it makes them look abit perquliar

Cheers mate, ye iw as kinda going for the mk5 style, i woudl of just modded the cards to fit the mk5 pins but not yet being able to drive i cant get to a scrappers or to a VW main stealers to buy the bloody things

meh... it sounded about right at the time the exhaust is blowing abit (no idea why as if u look at the rear arch pics you can see hwo clean the exhaust is and its liek that all over it!) so i might pop into pipewerx and get ma a custom zorst

gave ita' good seeing to today, decided the field at ma mums loked abit plain... so it needed some ''used'' marks :p needs cleaning again now cant wait til i make the r1 buggy, gna be drivin that 24/7 and the olop can just get polished

cheers max, i duno where i get teh motivation from i supose i justw ant to get it to a decent show worty standard i ahve most of th ebits liek coilies wheels tyres to fit e.t.c just not aloud yet as its not my daily and ye i think i prefered the white badge itw as doen with hammerite thoguth and looked crap so as soona s chrispy duck posts me onr of his *wink wink nudge nudge* i will put a std one on with black backing for an ultra oem+ look.
