If you have the DMTL with 24mm primary venturi then yeah you need more like a 50 or 55 idle jet.

Cheers Gaz, not sure exactly what the venturi size is, but I'm fairly sure that what I have is in fact a second hand polo specific DMTL kit, as the throttle cable fitted right on, and the carb looks pretty new. So most likely a 24mm primary then? Are the venturi sizes stamped on the casting anywhere? I must say that having been skeptical of other people's claims, I now stand corrected; the best £70 I ever spent! :-) it's not only considerably quicker, but just so eager in it's delivery! Could maybe do with rejetting on a rolling road as the second stage coming in isn't that noticeable. I'm using a 45 idle, 115 main, F22 emulsion and 170 air in the primary (same as polo pete, thought I'd use his jetting as he has an MH as well) and a 70 idle, 120 main, F30 emulsion and 180 air in the secondary. Does this sound reasonable to those in the know?

The venturi is the narrow bit inside the carb barrel which causes a pressure change inside the carb and helps draw fuel out of the jets. If you have a small engine you generally need a smaller venturi. The bigger carb will still work ok on the 1.3

It works more than ok! :-D Looks like my new idle jet hasn't arrived yet So I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get it running absolutely spot on.

Right any ideas at where i can get a gk manifold for my 1.3 golf? I've been recomended one to go with my DMTL twin choke carb...

Also anyone got a after market air filter for one of these carbs as i'm after one and don't fancy forking out the over priced options i've seen about...

My guess would be a 32TL(A) as that's a standard factory carb (and also as a replacement for the pierburg 1B3) fitted on some 1043s. Does it have a manual or auto choke?

Yes, if your DMTL has a VW sized Weber 99902.265 air filter adaptor (of 92mm diameter) on top.
