I know everyday there is a new question regarding matt paint. I want an opinion on how matt lacquer would look on top of basecoat of metallic.

I am sorting out some bodywork problems that i have with my car over the next few months. Due to this i am wanting to change the colour of my car. The question i want answering is, what would a metallic basecoat look like when used with a matt lacquer? I am thinking about matt on my car but matt black and green are so overdone and i want something to look a little different but not too over the top. Any suggestions, comments or examples would be more than appreciated.

Before anyone says anything I KNOW that everyday something is asked regarding matt paint. Hope this one sparks some different ideas instead of black or green....

Any thoughts or examples would help out...... Need to know as i will need to buy all the paint and equipment sooner rather than laters!!

^^ If you could do that matey that would be amazing!! Would appreciate it so much. Don't matter what base colour just not seen any finish on matt lacquer!!

If you're doing a respray I would go for metallic black in all honesty, then get the red stripe along the side and a red stripe on the front grille, would look so tidy!! Cant honestly picture a car with matt lacquer, just the matt green Polo's on here!!

I'm curios to the matt lacquer though. I know it may turn out to be a mistake but hey!! Live and learn. Really would rather not get rid of the paint that is on it now but it does need something doing to it!! Not happy that it has lacquer missing on some bits, bird dirt stains and scrtaches akimbo!!

Heard matt lacquer is easy to lay down ontop of a basecoat and so i want to know what it would look like on top of a metallic coat!!

Black and red always looks good but i want to see what my options could be before taking the plunge. I get what you saying though. Would look tidy!!

Right i got some pics of a matt lacquer next to some silk lacquer but........i couldn't get any of the sprayers to make up a panel as they were too busy so i got 2 of my current jobs which have a matt and silk laquer on it....so....

The top one is a silk and the bottom a matt...put them both under a light so you could see the difference

If you want to see them in the flesh just hop aboard a BA 747 and you can have a better look!!!

But i hope this helps a little.

Yeah matey that helps....the silk lacquer just helps to add a little shine but not gloss......looking good.
