Clifford ain't really the best unless you go to a dealer who will swear by it cos its more commission. Some people have problems and others are ok although they don't look like quality products. Its the gagetry that makes them expensive. Viper and Toad are both created by Clifford; just less expensive so them dealers would continue to push Clifford even when all 3 are the same. From everyone I know and alarms i'v heard people talk about it seems to me Cobra's are really good. No additional gagets; just honestly strong alarms which won't give you any headache. I had one fitted on my old polo with a BMW M5 tilt sensor £250 inc fitting. Never had any problems and it was much more affordable with better quality. If you need cat1 then upgrade it 2:1 from the factory immobiliser. Thats my view but others may differ.

i had that alarm it was pimp even turned the engine on for and kept the car locked and alarmed for warming up the g in those cold mornings!

mind you both me, the new owner and everyone in my work will tell you the alarm is loud as fuck and well annoying when it goes off every 5 minutes, its now been ripped out and hopefully strapped to a behemth of a firework and launched into space

It also depends on who installs the alarm. My mate had a clifford cat 1 installed but none of the proximity sensors were set up properly

Thats just the basic problems you face with proximity sensors. You want protection from people even touching your car so increase sensitivity only to drive you mad every 10mins when a car drives past! Too less and someone can dent your car and get away.

I'm talking from experiencing several alarms on a whole lot of mates cars seeing we all need it in the area we live! I must admit you also need to go to a good fitter. Sometimes thats the cause of problems people face cos the alarm wasn't fitted properly so bare that in mind.

alarms are overrated as noone pays a blind bit of notice anymore and in our state if someone saw your car getting stole in clear daylight they would probably just walk on past...

best way to stop your car getting nicked... rob the king lead.

they can still nick stuff out of it but after that they can do that with a brick a quick hand and they are off, even if your alarm goes off you aint gonna catch em...

and anything valuable you have in your car, its just a sitting duck cos eventually one day its gonna get nicked, its just a matter of when...

i always thought toad and sigma were made by the same people? I've come across some shitty alarms in the past. and i know a guy who had a clifford G4 fitted to his car by a cowboy and one of his mates nicked the alarm from the car just to take the piss.

so its not so much about what alarm you buy, its about gettin an approved technician to fit it.

not sure on the price, but there is an unpgrade like the one you mention, you have to pull out his tube and give it a good hard blow to check if your over the limit
