Ok, so having explored the PhilJ kits, Coilovers, not-adjust kits I've not found anything that is 25-30mm drop. Basically, I'm aiming to keep the look as standard as possible (Mrs'car) but need to uprate suspension; a bit stiffer and a bit lower. (soggy SE suspension not cutting it)

I'm thiking about some uprated Boge shocks and poss Polo GTi springs but would welcome some advice on how I can improve the suspension without resorting to coliovers..... would only use 25mm of drop so kind of a waste when you have some much adjsutability!!!

I'm in exactly the same position mate, looking at getting some 16v suspension for my girlfriends mk4 cos its too boaty. If i can find out anything ill post it on here but i think your on the right track with GTi springs n stiffer shocks. if you do it let me know what its like n how much it cost.

they're the standard vw springs that came on my 6n/2.

some reason on my car they were ultra stiff, just not low.

Not sure why thye'd be stiffer than what I have tho.... my car is a 1.4 16V 6n2 as well. Thanks for the offer but I want to drop it about 25-30mm as well, just to get ride of a bit of that gap (the one you can almost fit yer head into)

Koni kits are good. They drop the car about 40mm in most cases I think, but it really isn't that much. You can have them with adjsutable dampers so that you can set the suspension to your preference. Awesome GTi sell them for a really good price. If I don't get on with the H&R's I'll be having Koni's.

I've looked at 100's of kits and most seem to be 40mm.... which at 1st sounded ideal until I saw some cars with 40mm drop and its looks to much. If was going to do it right I;d drop it 50mm, 16" alloys and spend some real money getting it looking right in all areas, which I think a cars needs when you start to lower it quite a bit.

As its te Mrs car and she learning to drive I want it to look standard (a smidge lowered), have better dampning and less body roll. Cost is not the primary driver here.

I hear what you're saying about Koni. Bruv ran them on his MKII and they were ace. I like Eibach stuff, H&R, etc but all offer too muich for what I need.

Thing is I think the other way. I don't want mega slammed suspension, but I also think 40mm is barely noticeable. There are quite a few picture threads on here where I think the person needs to lower the car, yet it says "lowered 40mm"

Most 40mm kits don't look much at all, but I've also seen a car that's supposedly on 30mm Eibach springs and it did look lower than your average 40mm kit. Numbers are all well and good but really mean jack shit

60/40 on most kits is a fair drop but nothing extreme. 60/40 on an HnR kit is like most 80mm kits!

This is 40mm and poss a bit too low for me. I do need to lose a wee bit of the gap between tyre and arch, but not that much.

So, based on the baove I think 25-30mm and stiffer is what I'm after.

That pics got me, either I love the ride height and think thats great or I look again and I think its too low, not by much, but its def lowered where-as car is currently on stilts so 25-30mm should make it look normal.

Decisions, decisions, decisions!!!!!!!!

Time for some photoshoping and the seek advice on whats looks good from the forum....
