Lowering by 40mm on 15" Alloys

Featured Replies

Hey people, I have 15" rims on my Polo and am looking to lower it by 40mm. Firstly, is 40mm low enough to make a Polo look nice? Secondly, can you please tell me if I will end up scrapin my car if there's people sittng at the back or even damage my car if I was to drive over humps?

Thanks

well it all depends on the size of the tyre you have on if there balloned theres a chance it will srub but if you have low profiles then you shouldnt have a problem mate an 40mm doesnt look that low to be honest i lowered my first polo 40mm an it still looked high but if you want to carry passengers then i guess you have to make the decision if you want a slammed polo or friends

i tryed to fit 15" 6.5j's off a sirroco and they rubbed allot even with a 45 profile ... i drive a polo mk2 and its dropped 40mm there a no go I'm afraid..

it rubs on the rear arch and tyre bulges round the sring mount cup on the rear....

fit them take a picture then show you are mates..(like i did)

lol they look good but as i said a no go

better off with some g 40 alloys at 13"

hope that helps

this pic is the only one i have left.. look good hey!?!? well the back was much tigher infact in contact with arch and sus.. so with a load and/or a slight rais in the road over 4mph you are be buying my tyres in no time

Dependent on offsets too.

You can fit 165/65s (or a similar size to that, I can't remember exactly) or roll your wheel arches. I've run 15s with 195/45 tyres for years, and even with an engine in the boot it doesn't rub. But that's more to do with having rolled rear wheel arches.

Fronts are stock btw.

40mm isnt really enougth to be honest ..

I have mine 40mm down and when it had seats in it diddnt rub with 5 people I have 6J rims .

Your best bet is to get your arches rolled and drive slow if you have lots of people in the car .

Here is a piccy of mine with 195/45/15" Dosent look to bad for wheel arch gap

Here is mine with 165/50/15" Has a huge arch gap so could lower a little furthar .. i was planning on 60-70mm on this car
