I've been looking to get an immobiliser fitted to Cat 2 standard...

I have an AutoWatch 239Ti kit and could have this fitted or use this company:

They supply and fit for £100

How do I know if this will meet the required standard?

Should fitters have a unique number or qualification which makes them as fitters insurance approved?

I'm Bloody confused!

Perhaps its worth emailing thatcham or similar to see who their approved fitters are, or failing that ask the insurance company! I know that there are some firms who are 'approved' and the alarm must also meet certain standards/specs to be thatcham approved.

I believe you must also get a certificate form the fitter to show to the insurance company that it has been fitted by an authorised firm.

I've contacted the insurance...am still awaiting a reply...

They advised using GAP - who wanted some £299 for a Cat 2 Immobiliser to be fitted.

I thought this was a hmmmm tad overpriced to say the least...

Stupid thing is - i've got this 239Ti Autowatch Kit - but no-one seems to want to fit it - let alone getting someone registered or insurance approved to complete the paperwork for a reasonable price...

Any more ideas anyone?

Do you have a sextons nearby. I have always found them to be more helpful than anyone else iI have had to deal with, and I would be more inclined to go to them than some company that is probably sending insurance companies backhanders to send punters their way.

Yup - Flux is the Problem....

I am so shocked that all they have for recommendations are GAP Security - they are quite literally daylight robbers in action....

I looked on thier site in a hope that there would be more information - but no....

I've been trying to find out what makes an approved insurance fitment centre exactly that - APPROVED!

It seems any old company can fit these - but ones that insurance will accept seem to be choice - not qualified or different in anyway...

WHY?

I'm with flux and they said i didnt have to have a cat 1 or 2 system fitted. (my car does have an alarm fitted though, just dont have a certificate for it!)

Yeah I have a stamp from them on my certificate :-)

I know of a local fitter to you that is a approved fitter. His name is Brett and I think the company is Car Installs or something like that. He's a mobile fitter, so will come to where you want e.g. home or work. Why not give him a call and he can explan it all to you, his number is 07766005443. I would really recommed him, I would trust him to do any of my cars.
